one small surprise of the day = 1 small problem for the day

Posted by Nigel J. W. Ong

the surprise.

tried to buy a can of energy drink from a vendor machine. paid 3 dollars, and the machine pops 2 out. yahhoie!!

the problem.

i finished both of it within 1 hour. was checking out the design of the can (the brand is 'Relentless' btw), only to find out that it recommends a person to not consume more than 1 can per day.

worried, i went online to read about caffeine overdose. it says:

"An acute overdose of caffeine, usually in excess of about 300 milligrams, dependent on body weight and level of caffeine tolerance, can result in a state of central nervous system over-stimulation called caffeine intoxication"

"The symptoms may include restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irritability, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation. In cases of much larger overdoses mania, depression, lapses in judgment, disorientation, disinhibition, delusions, hallucinations, psychosis, rhabdomyolysis, and death may occur"

i just consumed 282mg of caffeine. judging the fact that i seldom drink this kind of stuff, i certainly will have a lower tolerance towards caffeine.

For the moment, Im flushing, i cant control my lips well (its shaking),i can feel my heartbeat going faster than usual, and im trying hard to maintain concentration (and finger coordination) as i type this blog entry.

i think im now intoxicated with excess caffeine.
