why can people respect each other's religion?

Posted by Nigel J. W. Ong

i got pissed today. someone made a very rude and blunt statement by saying that bible changes through time, and their "Holy book" doesn't. come on, ppl do talk about how good their faith is, but there is no need to bash other people's faith. they can bash Christians, but when made the Holy Father made some statement that challenges them, they go around killing people and burn churches.

that person is a disgrace to her own faith. your faith has made a pretty bad reputation in the world now, and u just made it worse.

u know who u r.

that's quite heavy rite there.
but i agree with you. no matter how much you think that your religion is better than others and whatnot, just keep you opinion to yourself. There's a thing call respect. Everyone should respect one another, regardless of their race and for this matter, religion. At the end of the day, we choose our own religion and you gotta respect that choice that some people have made.Cmon, i bet the person shld be mature enough to understand this.

What the person did is definitely not right, but I think as Christians, when people do that, we must always think, "What would Jesus do?" I think HE would forgive and love the person, as evidenced from His words, "Love your enemies as you love yourself"

Hello there. I know what religion you were talking about and I think that I am very much aware of the people who said those things. Personally, Islam respects every religion and this is stated in the Holy Quran itself. I have no intention of bashing any religion and I think that respecting each other's belief is one of the essential aspects of human ethics. I am a Muslim and I am sorry if any of my fellow Muslim friends hurt you/your friends. I am truly sorry. Please don't judge Islam through the any particular Muslims but please judge Islam (and any other religion) in its own essence.

"To err is human but to forgive is divine"

i will never say which religion am i referring to, because i do not want to be blunt in my criticism.

i do not demand or seek apology. there is no point apologizing every time after damage is done.

religion is about our personal relationship with God, and thus like other personal stuff, kept personal.

i appreciate comments on this entry, its controversial i know, but it speaks my frustation.

Hey bro,

Whatever it is, don't keep it in your heart, nor let it stagnant in ur heart. Forgive him/her for he/she does not know what he/she is doing.

Let us be reminded that we come into this world to be the witnesses of Christ, not judges or lawyers to put others into judgment.

Cheers mate. :)

despite one's belief, there is a need for respect in whatsoever we think, and what others think. diversity, is something that we have to embrace.

religion is one's choice to believe in. whoever the person is, I would suggest that he/she has to be a lil concern about the sensitivity of the statement. Islam do acculture "respect".

I guess in situations like these we can only but be the bigger man...

I'd say that lots of religions has been bashing each other through time. Those who do so, are those who never understood what religion really meant. Its purely shameful for that behavior.

You're a good man for writing this. I respect you more for doing so. :)

sorry to say, i think ur story isnt complete.n it seems that u r talking from one side only.. we r not very clear about what actually happened,so people @ readers might blame that particular people n got the bad perspective about the religion u r talking about..
anyway i do believe that people still have to respect each other regardless of religion, race etc.
